Covamat Plus™ is an advanced erosion control blanket designed to stabilise slopes and embankments while promoting vegetation growth. Made from a quilted blend of straw and/or coir fibres, these organic, biodegradable mats are available pre-seeded or non-seeded with a variety of seed mixes tailored for diverse soil and climatic conditions. Incorporating slow-release fertiliser, beneficial micro-organisms, and mulches, Covamat Plus™ enhances poor soils and protects against surface erosion for up to 36 months.

These blankets provide excellent mechanical protection for freshly-soiled embankments, riverbanks, watercourse linings, balancing ponds, reinforced soil slopes, and natural monuments. Covamat Plus™ is available in three types—100% straw, 50/50 straw and coir, and 100% coir—each suited to different slope gradients, from gentle (up to 30°) to steep (over 45°). Their unique composition supports strong root development, encourages rapid ground cover, and improves biodiversity while offering a natural, sustainable solution for erosion control.

Seed Mix Options:
Covamat Plus™ offers multiple pre-specified seed mixes tailored for different soil and climate conditions, including flood-prone areas, poor soils, dry or stony ground, and salt-resistant varieties. Custom site-specific seed mixes can also be incorporated for orders over 500m².
Seed Mix 1A, 1C: Flood endangered, strong root development, salt tolerant
Seed Mix 2A, 2B, 2C: Fresh/moist or dry/stony ground with erosion protection
Seed Mix 1P: Designed for very poor soil conditions and difficult vegetation establishment

Installation Guide:
For best results, lay the Covamat Plus™ blankets on prepared soil surfaces and secure firmly with appropriate pegs or staples. Once installed, irrigate thoroughly to activate the slow-release fertiliser and micro-organisms. Regular watering during establishment is essential to promote rapid vegetation growth and maximize erosion protection. Detailed installation guidance is available on request.
